Salem-news.com reports that one person was critically injured as a result of an accident that occurred Tuesday afternoon on Highway 26 near Sandy.
The accident happened at approximately 4:50 PM when an unnamed driver was seen speeding at a rate of 107 mph, as determined by the Oregon State Police sargeant on traffic safety duty. As the sargeant turned, the driver collided into the rear-end of a Suburu station wagon. The initial impact forced the Suburu to crash head-on into a full-size pick-up truck traveling westbound. The male speeding driver was listed in critical condition and was taken by Lightflight to OHSU. The occupants of the Suburu station wagon, one adult male driver and young female occupants were taken to an unknown facility for examination. The investigation into why the driver was speeding is underway.
While the offending driver was cited for speeding, it is unclear from this report whether or not there were other factors involved that may have made him lose control of his vehicle. In any case, the driver and passengers of the Suburu station wagon would be well advised to get in touch with a well-recommended Oregon personal injury attorney who will thoroughly investigate the details of the crash and help them get the compensation they deserve.
