Wrong way driver injures two on I-84 | Oregon Car Accident Lawyers

Date: June 16, 2009
Location: Near Exit 209 on I-84, Pendleton, OR
Type:  Car Accident
Outcome: 2 injuries (severity unknown)
Names: Unreleased

An head-on collision on I-84 near Pendleton injured two people this morning. According to the East Oregonian, a motorist driving a silver Honda Odyssey entered the eastbound side of the I-84 and then made a U-turn to head west, still in the eastbound lane. The crash happened when a westbound white Dodge pickup saw the Odyssey in the middle of its U-turn and attempted to avoid it by swerving, but could not. The vehicles hit nearly head-on just as the driver of the Honda was finishing the U-turn.

Both the driver of the Dodge pickup as well as a female passenger in the Honda were injured in the wreck, and had to be transported to St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton for treatment. The OSP reported that the driver of the Honda will probably be cited for reckless driving and reckless endangerment. The news report has not mentioned whether or not the Honda driver was under the influence.

We hope that the crash victims are able to recover from their injuries as quickly as possible, and that the Honda passenger’s injuries were not too serious. At this point, their conditions have not been released. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

The crash victims and their families may be well served by contacting an experienced Oregon car accident attorney who can advocate on their behalf and make sure that their rights are protected. The driver of the Honda should absolutely be held responsible for his reckless driving, and for the injuries he caused by attempting to drive the wrong way.  Any factors that may have contributed to his careless driving should also be thoroughly and diligently researched, which an excellent attorney will be able to do.

Important questions to consider when hiring a lawyer:
Does the lawyer understand how to help me pay my medical bills after an accident?
What about testimonials?
What kind of time limits are involved?
What if I have a smaller case?
Are there any hard rules to follow when looking for a great personal injury lawyer?
