Two Trucks Crash and Slide Toward Creek | Oregon Car & Truck Accident Lawyers

Date: June 15, 2010
Location: Highway 99W near Amity, Oregon
Names: Jose Ramirez-Amador, Jeremy Allan Callahan

On June 15, 2010, around 2:20 PM, a crash on Highway 99W near Amity, Oregon, between a commercial truck and a pickup sent both vehicles sliding 300 feet off the highway and down an embankment, stopping just before they tumbled into Plum Creek.

According to an OSP press release, the crash happened as a pickup truck driven by Jose Ramirez-Amador, 38, of McMinnville, was heading southbound near milepost 50. As Ramirez-Amador started to turn left off the highway, a commercial truck driven by Jeremy Allan Callahan, 31, of Springfield, tried to pass on the left. The commercial truck hit the side of the pickup, and both vehicles traveled about 300 feet off the northbound shoulder, struck a bridge railing, and traveled down an embankment, coming to a stop just before going into Plum Creek.

Both drivers were injured but are expected to survive. They were taken to Willamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville. Safety restraint information was not available.

Police cited Callahan for following too closely.

NWFF Environmental sent several units and half a dozen workers to catch the petroleum that leaked from the pickup, using absorbent pads placed in the creek.

State troopers from the Salem Area Command are continuing to investigate the crash.

We send our thoughts to Ramirez-Amador and to Callahan as they recover from their injuries. We hope you are out of the hospital soon.
